Music Assembly
On July 8th we enjoyed an assembly full of the musical talents of our students. Pianists, recorder groups, the Suzuki violins , the choir and the xylophone group all performed to a packed Te Kete Aronui.

Guitar lessons
We hope to be able to offer guitar lessons this year. Watch this space!
Choir
The school choir is open to all students from Year 5-8. Each year we perform at the Christchurch Primary Schools Music Festival
www.musicfestival.school.nz .
Violin
Violin lessons are offered on Thursdays with Pippa Mills. If you are interested in learning violin please contact the school.
Piano
We have two piano teachers at present. Deb Hodge teaches on Monday morning through the Suzuki method, and Natalia Artemiev teaches both traditional and suzuki piano on Tuesday mornings. Both teachers have waiting lists but please let us know if you'd like to begin piano lessons.
Recorder
Free recorder tuition is available for students from year 4 upwards. There are 4 groups at present, ranging from beginners to those more expereinced players learning the treble, tenor or bass. Children need to remember their recorders and books each week!
Xylophone
Playing the xylophone is part of the classroom music programme but there is a group which practises once a week and play some really exciting music. In 2012 there will be two groups, one for beginners and one for more advanced players.
Ukulele
We have recently purchased ukuleles for the school, and they are being introduced into the classroom music programme. If there is enough interest it is envisaged that there will be a Ukulele group formed in the near future. Kotuku children joined forces with the Diamond Harbour Ukulele group in the Musical Evening last year.
