Reporting to Parents

Reporting cycle

Formally reporting progress is an important part of learning. At Diamond Harbour School we report regularly to parents and  reporting methods are interlinked. Below is a brief summary of our reporting cycle.

Term 1

3 way conferences - these are held within the first 6 weeks of the school year. The child, teacher and parents together plan learning goals for the first two terms. These goals are similar to the next learning steps identified from the previous year's end of year report. As children move through school they take an increasing role in these conferences. Learning Pathways beginning of year

Term 2

Interim reports - this format gives an overview of your child's progress for the first half of the year. Next learning steps are shared as are suggestions on how parents can help at home. Interim report

Term 3

3 way conferences - the next learning steps from the interim report form the basis of this meeting held at the beginning of the term. Again the child, parents and teacher sit down together to reflect on previous goals and set learning goals for the remainder of the year. Mid year learning pathways

Term 4

Writtten report - this report is a comprehensive document that summarises progress over the year, it provides next learning steps and also contains suggestions on how parents can help at home. End of year report

National Standards

The following is a link to the home page of TKI. This website is a Ministry of Education site that is useful for both teachers and parents. The website is full of teacher jargon; however with some careful navigation you can access some appropriate information.
